Your doggy guide to The White Lion

Booking your stay

Dogs are allowed in all of our room types, which means you can effortlessly choose the room and rate that works for you.
If booking your stay online, please go through the booking process as usual and add the dog charge after you have chosen your room. The payment is then requested on check in.

Pawesome in-room facilities

Your dog is also a VIP in our eyes. Within the room they will find a dog bed and dog bowl which they can use during their stay, as well as a bag of dog treats and a mini dog towel for their paws - consider it a reward after a hard day's walk.

Public areas

We welcome dogs in our lounge and in our Brasserie bar. Our full menus for the Brasserie and Sea Spice can be made available in the Brasserie bar, which means you can still experience the delicacies of both restaurants (subject to opening times) with your dog comfortably snoozing under the table. As the location is within our Brasserie restaurant, please just let us know when dining if you would also like to look at the Sea Spice menu.

Beach area for dogs

Dogs are not permitted on the main stretch of the beach in Aldeburgh between the 1st May and 30th September every year,. However, The White Lion is perfectly located a few minutes' walk from the end of this restriction. So within a few steps, you and your dog can enjoy the beach without any worry.

Did someone say walkies?

If you're looking to find a walking loop which abides by the restrictions but still allows you to soak up some of the wonderful coast and countryside, access the beach or the more sturdier walkway from the point mentioned above and head towards Thorpeness, where there is a sign stating where the next restriction starts. From there, come away from the beach and head towards another of our sister hotels, Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel. A countryside path (identified by the public footpath sign), which is away from the road, can be found just before the third tee. This will take you back into Aldeburgh.

Crag Path, a walkway which sits between the hotel and the beach can be used for walks all year round, so you can still enjoy the sights of the coast with your dog in tow. The other end of the restriction, which you will reach by using Crag Path, is located near our sister hotel, also based in Aldeburgh, The Brudenell.
